From The New Head of School

(Mrs Melissa Lines)

Dear Parents / Carers

I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed as the new Head of School at St. Ives School from September and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you.

I have been a teacher and a senior leader for the past 20 years. Most recently I have been living and working as a Deputy Head Teacher on the Isle of Man.

I feel very fortunate to be taking on the leadership of St Ives School within such a thriving and supportive community. I will ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality of education for your children, and I place a very high value on the wider educational and personal development opportunities that are embedded in the school culture and ethos.

From September I will be introducing myself to students in their assemblies, and visiting them in their classrooms. I will also be spending time getting to know our staff team, as they are so vital in supporting students’ learning and achievement.

The school’s partnership with parents and families is an important foundation of our students’ achievement and success. I know parents will share my high expectations for the school and I believe that when our children are happy and confident, and inspired by excellent teaching, they will go on to achieve great things. I am looking forward to meeting parents over coming weeks and in the Autumn Term.

Education can change children’s lives for the better: it is the right of every child to receive an excellent education. I remember how my own education and the support of my teachers changed my life and I am determined to ensure that every student in St. Ives School can be the very best version of themselves.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Butterworth for the warm welcome he has extended to me as I begin my journey with St Ives School and would like to wish him every success in his future career.

Yours faithfully
Ms Melissa Lines
